MAKING ROOM FOR THE SACRED: A Chanukah Altar-Making Ritual with Day Schildkret — Wednesday, December 9, 7-8:30 pm ET / 4-5:30 pm PT

What in your life is asking to become sacred again?

A relationship with the earth. A creative practice you’ve missed. A part of your Jewish life you’re finding your way back to. Something you love that has gone too long without your attention.

Chanukah carries a story of rededication: returning to a sacred place, encountering what has been damaged, and beginning to make room for life there again.

On Wednesday, December 9, from 7-8:30 pm ET via Zoom, join author, artist, and Morning Altars founder Day Schildkret and Beit Kohenet for an online gathering, weaving Chanukah teachings with the hands-on practice of making an altar from natural materials.

With leaves, stones, seeds, and whatever is close at hand, we’ll slow down, follow our curiosity, and create a small place for something we want to tend. You’ll leave with your own altar and a simple practice of rededication to accompany the eight nights. There will be room for what remains unresolved, for the pleasure of making beauty, and for witnessing one another’s discoveries.

Event Details:

  • Come with a handful of materials and a willingness to wonder. No artistic experience is needed.

  • Though live attendance is encouraged, this event will be recorded, so you can rewatch it at a later time if you cannot attend live.
