MAGIC AND MEDITATION: Singing the Kohenet Siddur with Kohenet Liviah Wessely — Mondays, February 2, 9, and 16, 7-8:15 pm ET / 4-5:15 pm PT
In this three-session course with Guardian Song Weaver, Kohenet Liviah Wessely, we will explore some of the mysteries available to us through elements of the Kohenet Siddur. We will learn melodies common in our services, explore meditative texts, and discover the magic contained in that shared experience.
Participants will be guided through the Kohenet Siddur’s songs, prayers, meditations, and blessings so that they can more fully participate in Beit Kohenet services, make use of Kohenet musical liturgy in their own practice and leadership, and explore the mystical openings that the Siddur provides.
All are welcome, whether you are bringing experience with Kohenet liturgy or newness to the exploration. We will explore melodies and meditations from throughout Siddur haKohanot (we recommend having a digital or physical copy to fully engage with the course), created by Jill Hammer, Taya Shere, Shoshana Jedwab, and a selection of Kohanot. Our tentative schedule is as follows:
Session 1: Kabbalat Shabbat and other evening elements
Session 2: Shacharit and Torah Service
Session 3: Minchah, Havdalah, and other elements
This series will be taught via Zoom and can also be accessed via phone. Though live attendance is encouraged, all sessions will be recorded, allowing you to engage with the material even if you’re unable to attend in real time. For financial assistance and scholarship opportunities, please contact liviah@beitkohenet.org.
Cost: $100 + $25 non-refundable registration fee
