THE TORAH IN THE TAROT: Full Review from Aleph to Tav with Stav Appel — Tuesdays, March 10, 17, and 24, 7-8:30 pm ET / 4-5:30 pm PT
The recently published The Torah in the Tarot by Stav Appel argues that one of the oldest preserved Tarot decks, the Jean Noblet deck of 1650 Paris, contains a hidden depiction of the language, rituals, and beliefs of Judaism. If true, this discovery completely upends our current understanding of the history of the Tarot.
Beit Kohenet is pleased to announce that Stav Appel will be joining us for a three-session study series on The Torah in the Tarot. The course will include a full exploration of all 22 Major Arcana of the Noblet Tarot, reviewing the Hebrew letters, Torah narratives, Judaic ritual objects, and Jewish holy days that can be found in its images.
The series will also offer an overview of the history of the Tarot and consider what the Noblet deck’s Judaica suggests about the broader evolution of the genre - from its early origins in Renaissance Italy to its emergence as a global cultural phenomenon.
A special emphasis will be placed on the new questions and mysteries that arise when we recognize the Judaica of the Noblet deck. Enrollment is now open for what promises to be a highly engaging series of interactive presentations.
This series will be taught via Zoom and can also be accessed via phone. Though live attendance is encouraged, all sessions will be recorded, allowing you to engage with the material even if you’re unable to attend in real time. Cost: $125 + $25 non-refundable registration fee
